When Lexine Solomon was growing up on a sugar cane town in North Queensland, Australia, she never imagined that the seismic power of her voice would carry her on a 20 year career as a professional soloist, backing vocalist, choir conductor, recording artist and music producer in Australia, the USA and in Europe.
"This Is Woman" is an album celebrating her heritage as an indigenous Torres Strait Islander (the stretch of islands running between Papau New Guinea and the northeastern most tip of Australia) and the joy and pride she feels in being a woman and sharing insights about life, love, happiness and the world. White House are four guys bringing together a wealth of experience working in the Australian music industry as well as love, talent and passion for the creation and performance of music itself.
Sonic Nomad aka Grant Leigh Saunders is the frontman who spins political rhyme and from time to time, straight out love; Allan Morris casually forces through solos others just play air guitar to; Sri Lankan bass machine Dinesh Ekanayake pops and growls on bass, and the rubbery wrists of Chaminda Samaraweera provide the groovy backbeats on drums. AND Every now and again White House employs a friend in world renown Hip Hop DJ Motto who scratches and mixes on the decks to add yet another dimension and colour to the White House vibe. Altogether they bring an original and exciting new combination of sounds and styles that can only be described as FRESH.
Although a relatively new band, forming in 2006, the uncanny tightness of early jams has already matured into several pumped up gigs, including a midnight performance at the huge Fest Napuan festival in Port Villa, Vanuatu, September 2007. Since then the band has gone from strength to strength, headlining the 2009 Yabun Festival and featuring live in the studio on ABC TV.
